Overview

When setting up subscriptions through Easy Subscription on your Shopify store, it’s important to ensure that you have a compatible payment gateway configured. In order to sell subscriptions through the native Shopify checkout, you will need to ensure that you have one of the listed payment gateways configured on your store.
This is a requirement from Shopify for all subscription apps using the native Shopify checkout and is not specific to Easy Subscription.

Supported Payment Gateways:

• Shopify Payments
• PayPal Express
• Authorize.net
• Stripe

(which is only available to some merchants)

Accelerated Checkouts

Customers can also use accelerated checkouts such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal to purchase subscriptions.

Apple Pay Eligibility Criteria

To use Apple Pay for subscription products, you need to meet the following requirements:

• Your store needs to use Shopify Payments.
• Your business needs to be located in the United States, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
• Your customers need to pay with a Mastercard or Visa card.

Paypal Express Eligibility Criteria

Easy Subscription supports Paypal for subscriptions as Shopify does as well. However, only Paypal Express is supported for subscription orders as of now.
To offer billing agreements like subscriptions as a merchant, you have to be approved by PayPal for Reference Transactions, which is the PayPal feature that allows you to charge customers automatically.
If you’re not yet approved for Reference Transactions with PayPal, and a customer makes an order that includes a subscription, then Shopify hides PayPal as a payment option during checkout.
You can check if you’ve been approved by reviewing the status of your request on the Payments page of your Shopify admin.

Ineligible Payment Methods

Customers can’t use local payment methods such as Klarna, mollie iDEAL, and Sofort to purchase subscriptions.
